In 2007, Eric Glomski and Maynard Keenan formed a partnership and launched Arizona Stronghold Vineyards. Eric is the owner and winemaker of Page Springs Cellars and was previously the winemaker at David Bruce Winery. A descendant of Northern Italian winemakers and founder of the alternative rock group Tool, Maynard Keenan is the owner and winemaker of Caduceus Cellars and Merkin Vineyards. The vineyard site is 80 acres, with 70 acres currently under vine. It is located at the base of the Chiricahua Mountains. The soil here is clay loam interspersed with cobbles. Their production facility is in the Verde Valley and their tasting room in the historic Old Town Cottonwood. Arizona Stronghold Vineyards also sources small amounts of fruit from Colibri Vineyards in the Chiricahua Mountains and from Page Springs Vineyards near Sedona, Arizona. Some blending grapes also come from Paso Robles and Lockwood, California. The core of the red plantings is Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Tempranillo and Sangiovese. The white varietals are Chardoy, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Malvasia Bianca and Viognier. Arizona Stronghold’s goal is to put fine Arizona wine on tables throughout the United States.
